Bay Area Yarn Crawl is Coming!

Bay Area Yarn Crawl is Coming!

What happens when you bring fiber-loving crafters and local yarn shops together?

The first annual Bay Area Yarn Crawl, Friday, March 15, through Sunday, March 24.

Twenty-one shops will welcome crocheters, knitters, weavers, spinners, and all hand-crafters. The ‘crawlers’ will fan out across six counties to see what each unique shop has to offer. There will be trunk shows by local makers, door prizes, exclusive yarns and notions, and more. A full list of events will be posted on the Crawl’s website: www.bayareayarncrawl.com (http://www.bayareayarncrawl.com/)

What's Happening at Uncommon Threads?

We're excited to feature a special collection of yarn dyed by Playful Day, based in the North Bay. Shop the limited collection of non-superwash DK merino and a luxurious merino/yak fingering weight!

SWAG & PRIZE DRAWINGS
Every day of the crawl, we'll have fun swag for everyone, but we'll also have a larger daily prize drawing (no purchase necessary) that you won't want to miss, so be sure to enter when you visit the shop. Just wait until you see the prizes!

PLAY YARN CRAWL BINGO!

At our shop (and every other shop you visit) you'll want to make sure you get your bingo card stamped. You can pick up a card at the shop or you can print one at home on via the  Bay Area Yarn Crawl (BAYC) Site

If you compete a row on the card, you'll be eligible to win 1 of 4 amazing gift baskets. If you complete the entire board, you will be entered to with the GRAND PRIZE basket. You can see all of these on the BAYC's Instagram page

When you're done crawling, just drop off your card at any participating shop and we'll make sure it gets to BAYC headquarters for the drawing.

Oakland artist Dawn Kathryn illustrated a map of the crawl, which will be featured on canvas and polyester totes, muslin project bags and sticker sheets. Her work is widely collected and often features adorable animals doing fiber arts.

TIPS FOR A GREAT CRAWL
  • Make a plan for the shops you'll visit and how you'll get there (carpooling and public transportation are two top recommendations).  All of the shops will have special things happening so be sure to visit the crawl site to see a full list of everything that's happening. SEE A TRUNK SHOW OR SPECIAL EVENT THAT YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS? THINK ABOUT MAKING THAT YOUR FIRST STOP! Remember that the crawl lasts over two weekends so you can split up your visits.
  • Pick up crawl swag on your first day as these are sure to sell out. There are top quality project bags and the cutest stickers that you can purchase from us now before the crawl even begins! And there will be very limited edition color bags as well... but you'll have to grab those in-store starting March 15th.
  • Bring water and a snack and be sure to wear comfy shoes.
  • Be patient as we may have longer wait times and lines due to the large number of guests. We won't be able to offer pattern assistance during busy times.
  • Please understand that yarn winding and in-store pattern printing will be limited during the crawl to facilitate quicker assistance and reduce lines. You are welcome to bring your yarn back after the crawl for winding.
Above all else, HAVE FUN and enjoy the camaraderie of our wonderful yarn community that we are so glad to support and bring together for this event.

The Bay Area Yarn Crawl is a perfect opportunity to jump start your creativity while meeting other crafters and supporting local businesses. Visit the Crawl’s website: www.bayareayarncrawl.com (http://www.bayareayarncrawl.com/) for complete information.
