January 22 Intro to Colorwork
10 am - 12 noon PT
Are you confused about the difference between stranded colorwork and Fair Isle knitting, slip stitch and mosaic, intarsia and argyle? Maybe you're itching to cast on a specific pattern, or just wanting to impress your friends by working with multiple colors at once. In this workshop we will explore the basics of knitting colorwork, try a bit of three different techniques (stranded, slip stitch, and intarsia), learn tips on how to keep yarn from getting tangled, and get resources for indie designers who specialize in each technique.
This workshop will take place on Zoom and registered students will receive the link two days in advance. Students will receive a handout as well as the slides shown during class, and will have the opportunity to ask questions during the workshop. The workshop will not be recorded and students do not have permission to record it themselves, but videos shown during class will be available to re-watch.
Materials Needed: small amounts (at least 30 yards each) of worsted or aran weight yarn in 3 or more colors (all yarn should be roughly the same size), knitting needles that are an appropriate size for your yarn. You may want to print out the handout that will be emailed to you two days in advance and/or have note-taking supplies.
