Make Your Own Marls with Cecelia Campochiaro
BONUS Show-and-Tell on Saturday, January 7, 2023
Take your colorwork skills to the next level with this updated workshop with Cecelia Campochiaro! Mixing lightweight yarns in different colors can create dazzling effects with the simplest techniques.
October 22, Session 1 : 9 am - 12 noon, 1 - 4 pm
In the first of this 2-session workshop, you'll learn how to design colorful pieces with marls by using micro-swatches and ITO Kinu, a lace-weight silk yarn. These tiny swatches let you work strands together as one to see all the color combinations available to you and pre-visualize how they can be arranged in your fabrics.
Once you've found the marls you like best, you'll design your own unique scarf or shawl with a custom color blend! We'll order any Kinu colors that aren't already in stock so you can cast on during Session 2. Participants receive a 10% discount on Kinu purchased for this workshop.
November 5, Session 2 : 1 - 4 pm
With yarn in hand, you'll make the final decisions about your color progressions, scarf or shawl shape and any stitch patterns you want to incorporate. Cecelia's expert eye for color and texture will help you start your project with a clear path to a beautiful finish!
The maximum class size is 20 students, and the workshop will be held at the lovely mid-century modern Neutra House at 181 Hillview Avenue in Los Altos. Beverages and light snacks will be provided both days; you're welcome to bring your lunch or pick up something in town.
