Neat seaming and finishing make such a difference in a handmade project, but so many knitters and crocheters don’t feel confident in their finishing skills. This class will be useful for anyone who knits or crochets garments or accessories. This is an IN-PERSON workshop and will include demos and a handout. The workshop will not be recorded and students do not have permission to record it.
Techniques will include:
planning ahead for finishing ease and success
weaving in yarn ends on knit and crocheted fabric
seaming knitting using mattress stitch aka invisible stitch
seaming crochet with mattress stitch or slip stitch
grafting
picking up stitches for knit edging
single crochet edging
buttonholes multiple ways
sewing buttons securely
Materials Needed:
Three knitted or crocheted swatches made with similar weight yarns, additional yarn in a similar size, knitting needles or crochet hooks in an appropriate size for your yarn, darning needle. Optional: a project ready to seam and finish.
