June 6 Seaming and Finishing with Kira Dulaney
10 am - 12 noon PT
Neat seaming and finishing make such a difference in a handmade project, but so many knitters and crocheters don’t feel confident in their finishing skills. This class will be useful for anyone who knits or crochets garments or accessories. This is a virtual workshop and will include both live and recorded demos and a handout. The workshop will not be recorded and students do not have permission to record it, but videos shown during class are available to re-watch.
Techniques will include:
planning ahead for finishing ease and success
weaving in yarn ends on knit and crocheted fabric
seaming knitting using mattress stitch aka invisible stitch
seaming crochet with mattress stitch or slip stitch
picking up stitches for knit edging
single crochet edging
buttonholes multiple ways
sewing buttons securely
This is a lecture and demonstration style class so you don't need to have any tools and you are welcome to knit or crochet while watching. You may want to print out the handout that will be emailed to you two days in advance and/or have note-taking supplies. Optionally you can bring a few swatches, some yarn, and needles/hooks to practice with.
