Filoli Shawl by Ksenia Naidyon (Life is Cozy) offers the familiar comfort of a cozy triangular wrap spiced up with interesting stitch patterns. It is named after a beautiful historic house and garden in the SF Bay Area and is a sister project to Filoli Cowl.
The shawl features two types of mosaic patterns and garter stitch. All colorwork requires working with just one color per row and the whole shawl is almost completely worked with knit and slipped stitches - very little purling, yay!
This asymmetric piece is knit flat from the tip and shaped with increases along one side. Due to this construction, the length of the shawl is easily adjustable to fit the available yardage - just knit until you run out of yarn.
The edges are polished with built-in i-cord that is continued in the two-color i-cord bind off, video tutorial provided. Colors are carried along the edge and hidden in the i-cord edging, so there’s no yarn cutting and just a couple of ends to weave in. Mosaic stitch patterns are both charted and written out.
The kit includes:
- 2 cones each of two colors of ITO Rakuda (70% Wool, 30% Camel, 231 yds. ) This is enough to make the large shawl.
- the printed pattern and a digital copy by email/Ravelry library
You'll also need:
- Size US 2 needles or size to achieve gauge of 23 sts. over 4 in. in garter stitch, blocked
Finished size:
- Width at the deepest point 23.5 (33.5)“ / 60 (85)cm
- Wingspan (the longest measurement from tip to tip) 49 (73)“ / 125 (185)cm
