Knitting with Alpacas - Pomponio Ranch
Sunday, November 3 • 11 am - 2 pm

Field Trip 5

Experience the life cycle of a skein of yarn! We're visiting Valhalla Yarns' ranch in San Gregorio, where Signe Ostby and her dedicated team raise alpacas, cormo sheep and goats near the beautiful coastline.

You'll have a hands-on adventure, learning about animal husbandry in this region, different qualities of sheep and alpaca fleeces, and which fibers are best for particular projects. And of course, there will be adorable animals!

Registration includes the tour and presentation, a box lunch, and a delightful swag bag. You'll receive driving directions via Hwy 92 or 84 shortly before the event, and you will be contacted in advance regarding any dietary requirements. Dress in layers and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes for walking on dusty or muddy ground (with a chance of manure.)

Cost: $75 Register online.

Pop-Up with Seismic Yarn
November 6 - 13

Eva Seismic

Experience the glorious color and yummy fiber of Seismic Yarns! We'll have a variety of bases available for a limited time. Learn more about Eva and her yarns:

A San Francisco native, Eva is inspired by her hometown, her life, her children, and the silly stories that punctuate their days. She shares stories in her colorway descriptions and on Instagram—if you get a chance to meet her in person, make sure to ask her for a story! There are some that are for IRL situations only!

Eva began her dye journey as the perfect storm of a person who likes nice things, is on a budget, and is a lifelong DIYer. She started off “just playing” but with some encouragement from friends and family, her “play” became more serious. Combining her love of science and lab equipment with her growing dye knowledge, Eva discovered a love of creating color for people who, like her, are afraid of wearing color. With the help of her children (affectionately known as the Dye Interns), she explored the world of neon and black light/UV reactive colors and they haven’t looked back. Despite this fun with neons, Eva’s heart lies in the moodier, broodier section of the color wheel and she refuses to give up her rich semi-solid, tonal, and low contrast variegated colorways.

Trunk Show with Life is Cozy/Ksenia Naidyon
Saturday, November 9

Ksenia Naidyon
We're pairing a Seismic Yarn Pop-Up with a beautiful trunk show by Ksenia Naidyon, aka Life is Cozy! You'll love her exquisite designs for sweaters, accessories and more. Here's more about Ksenia:
"Knitting to me is a perfect pairing of pure creativity with solid math. It is a magical tool for translating ethereal inspiration into physical objects, and I don’t think it will ever stop to amaze me.

I love incorporating complex textures into my designs and combining them in new unusual ways. Bobbles, nupps, Japanese lace, traveling stitches, and cables are among my favorites. My sweater designs often play with volume - think balloon and bishop sleeves, straight silhouettes, and lots of positive ease. For shawls, I prefer to use just a couple of colors and concentrate on texture and drape. A lot of my designs are named after plants and draw inspiration from nature. I find every aspect of it mesmerizing - from shapes and textures to smells and shadows."

Many of the events are recorded and available after the live event is over, so even if you can't make it live you can still enjoy the presentation!
